The CosmoQueen Foundation is a non-profit organisation which aims to combat poverty by generating work for underprivileged women from outside Europe, regardless of their political or religious background.

How? By having the exclusive fashion brand, CosmoQueen’s products made by hand, initiated and supported by Dutch production-management skills and Dutch top design.

Currently this successful combination is taking place in Jordan and Cambodia. The result? Exquisite, opulent, hand-made couture shawls and plaids. CosmoQueen operates according to Fair Trade principles, and these couture shawls and plaids are then sold within the top segment of the Western market.
The products are sold in different ways, for example, at events, private sales parties but also via exclusive fashion retailers .

Secretary (administrative function)/Office Manager

We are looking for a coordinator who can bring order to our intermittent chaos: somebody who would like to be operationally acquainted with all the goings on within our organisation. You will be the first point of contact for the other Board Members, but also for a group of volunteers who are temporarily brought into action for various projects, and naturally have many questions.

You willl also be responsible for writing and producing CQ’s communication materials, such as flyers, registration forms for events, and periodical newsletters, and upgrading the content of the website, in consultation with the webmaster.
For these duties you will work in cooperation with Katja ten Dam, Chairwoman of the Board of CQ .

You are an experienced an Office Manager and/or Communications Specialist, are socially concerned and you would like to devote yourself to the good cause of CQ. You are results-oriented and have experience with all Windows packages including the scanning of photos and materials. In addition you are proficient in both spoken and written Dutch and English. (Of course French and German are also welcome.) Taking initiative and working independently are indispensible skills in this function.

Display builders

Do you enjoy earning a bit of extra money whilst supporting an organisation that is striving to achieve the above goals? Then we would like to hear from you, or perhaps your friends/co-students. What do we ask for? People who:
  • are handy (putting up/dismantling cupboards)
  • feel responsible for the equipment
  • have a full-driving licence and mobile phone
  • are able to carry out light removal work
  • are available at irregular working hours.

Event employees and sales people

In order to sell the CQ shawls, we are looking for volunteers who would like to use their talents and qualities a few times a year for our good cause. You will have many years’ experience in sales and/or in events, preferably in the fashion trade or related trades (or possibly you are working currently in these trades). You are able and willing to work irregular working hours, which are of course, planned in advanced. A person who is presentable, and combines independence and initiative will feel really at home with us.

Regional Manager(s)

Regionally there are many interesting event(s) and sales activities that need to be organised.
We are looking for volunteer(s) who will take care of a region. This entails independently building up a supporting network within your defined region. You will need to develop and implement a strategic and tactical sales plan for your region. This can include: sales evenings or a ladies’ lunch, but also company activities and sales presentations to, for example, the Lions. Everything will be included in an activity calendar.

Experience in Sales and Sales Management is important and, in addition, it is important that you enjoy guiding people, being creative and ‘running’ your region independently. To carry out this function well, it is necessary that you can not only develop a relevant network, but that you can also influence it.

The person we are seeking is someone who enjoys utilising his/her experience and skills to support CQ in a voluntary capacity.

Fundraiser

We are seeking someone who has preferably already been involved as fundraiser or someone with sound sales experience in the B2B market.
Events that must be ‘sold’ include:
  • a few hundred separate places for the CQ Christmas lunch
  • recruitment of Founding Partners (10,000 Euros per FP) and Honoured Members (2,500 Euros per HM)

In addition, we expect the Fundraiser to contribute ideas for introducing new fundraising concepts.

One of the most important challenges for 2008 will be:
Selling 40-50 tables for the CosmoQueen Millennium Goals’ Gala on 07-07-08 in Amsterdam (per table of 10 people, incl. 10 exclusive CQ shawls).

The person we would like to find is someone who enjoys utilising his/her experience and skills to support CQ in a voluntary capacity.

If you are interested or would like to receive further information, please contact us. Send an e-mail to info@cosmoqueen.nl. Very many thanks!
